DRS2000-HS Legacy analog downlink systems are not well suited for urban environments due to persistent problems with multi-path interference, fade and signal loss. For this reason law enforcement agencies now demand robust, dependable, digital central receivers designed specifically to perform in congested built-up settings. Microwave Radio Communications developed the DRS2000 HS receiver to address these challenges. The DRS2000 HS delivers the rich feature set required for first responders; including COFDM demodulation, spatial diversity, advanced decryption and a powerful but simple management interface.
COFDM (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is used to transmit compressed video for high resolution outdoor applications. COFDM’s multi-carrier transmission characteristics protect the signal from the effects of multi-path interference; while it’s coding, interleaving, and guard interval characteristics protect against the multi-path latency delays associated with mobile transmitters. The DRS2000-HS includes both COFDM demodulation and antenna spatial diversity Maximum Ratio Combining (MaxRC) to eliminate the effects of fade and multi-path loss. Using these technologies the DRS2000-HS effectively extends the range of airborne based digital downlinks via simple omni-directional antennas - without the increased cost and complexity of tracking antenna systems. The DRS2000-HS will dynamically optimize the quality and range of the received signal for maximum usability in real-world applications.
DRS2000-HS offers both BISS, BISS-E and AES 128 bit decryption options. System parameters can be easily set from the front panel with a user friendly keypad and menu screen. Manual and pre-defined settings may be selected and a display screen provides a live view of the video signal along with an overlay of the video spectrum. The integrated Standard Definition (SD) MPEG decoder supports standard DVB-T 2K operation and the unit is compatible with MRC’s digital STRATA, DTX, CodeRunner and MCR-HS transmitters.
